Here is a Google Map that CLEARLY maps out the course.

New Title Sponsor??
Did anyone else notice the addition of the FORD logo on the newsletter that came out yesterday? I checked the website and it is there to. Did I just miss this before????
I don't know about you, but I'm pretty happy about that. I'm expecting to see a lot of the same stuff the North America races get - the motivational mile maybe??
And in case you haven't heard, blogger Hillary Biscay will be racing. And there is rumor that Bree Wee may be as well......NICE!

Just Another Day In Paradise
Maybe we've been here before. You know, that period of time right before an Ironman race where it's no longer this thing way out there for which you are preparing, but an imminent challenge. It gets real. Really real.
It's sort of like looking under the bed for that monster you were always afraid was there as a child only to feel the hot breath and see the yellow eyes of an honest to goodness monster.

My monster is the swim, so much so that I've been lately going off the reservation and swimming sets that exceed the distance prescribed by My Personal Yoda, Coach Kris. Fear will do that to you.
So here's the question I have about my particular monster. I know I can swim 2.4 miles in the open water. Been there. Done that. I'm pretty sure I can swim 2.4 miles without the aid of a wetsuit. But when the water starts moving up and down or side to side, or when I have to swim into a current, my weak little canine brain starts to despair.

Cozumel is a one loop swim course, leaving more time for despair and less opportunity to break the swim into bit sized pieces. In addition, the first half of the swim is into the teeth of the prevailing current that flows from south to north and which is used by divers to "drift dive."
Has anyone actually been in this water to know how serious this current is? Are we talking "lazy river" current or are we talking "Deliverance" current. I don't want to drift. And I don't particularly want to swim for an hour on the redline into a current before turning for home. But I think I hear banjo music.
SWIM FASTER!

update on the course
friend one mine on beginnertriathlete.com posted this:

Run - yes, run leaves T2, goes along the waterfront north towards the airport and back.
This map basically shows the route in the yellow by coincidence..... 3 loops around the bottom on the bike and 3 loops up north
Thought this might be of interest, I posted it on the other board since it looks like the new course description is out. I think it's a little better, instead of 6 passes on the east road with a potential crosswind, you only have 3. The west side will be blocked from the wind, and will give you a nice break before heading back into a headwind. The bike will end with about 9 miles of nice tailwind
Bike - Yes, three loops of the south half of the island. It's basically, instead of turning around on the cross island road, you continue straight west back into downtown. That is going to be one looooong stretch of awesome tailwind (mitigated by the same amount of headwind at the south end, where you head east). There's a jog left an right to T2 where you start again.

This map shows the town. You will come in heading west (toward the bottom of the page) on the Island Crossroad (Ave,. Benito Juarez), turn left on Ave 30 Sur, then right on Calle 11 Sur (both appear to be main streets), then left on the waterfront road for loop 2/3 (Melgar, not named here). I think T2 is at the corner of 11 and Melgar (the oceanfront street, and the one you will run on), looks like there is a park there

Run - yes, run leaves T2, goes along the waterfront north towards the airport and back.
